Vaccinate 5 year oldsth to college

To facilitate the vaccination of young French people and increase vaccination coverage, a vast vaccination campaign was launched at the start of the 2023/2024 school year. It targets all students from 5th educated in public colleges and private colleges under contract with the Ministry of National Education. Free, and not obligatoryit concerns nearly 7,000 colleges and begins in October 2023.

In practice, vaccination once morest HPV vaccinations is recommended for all adolescents, girls and boys, aged 11 to 14 years, with a two-dose vaccination schedule, with an interval of 6 months between the two doses. Vaccination will take place directly in colleges, to which professional mobile teams from vaccination centers will come. The first dose should be administered during the last quarter of 2023 for a second dose before the end of the school year in June 2024. The parents of the middle school students concerned were informed of the organization of this campaign at the end of the school year 2022-2023. They received during the month of September 2023 an information kit including:

  • a request for parental authorization, necessary for the adolescent to be vaccinated at school;
  • an explanatory letter regarding the campaign;
  • a leaflet on the issues of vaccination and its importance for the health of their children.

To know ! Adolescents aged 11 to 14 can be vaccinated outside of school, by the doctor, nurse or pharmacist. Catch-up vaccination is possible up to age 19 with a 3-dose vaccination schedule for all girls and boys and up to age 26 with a three-dose vaccination schedule for men who have sex with men.

An information campaign on the issues of HPV vaccination

To raise awareness of this campaign and better inform people regarding vaccination once morest HPV infections, the National Cancer Institute launched in parallel a nationwide information campaign, which took place from September 4 to 30, 2023. On the radio, four “we’re talking regarding it” spots were broadcast to parents to encourage them to authorize their adolescents to be vaccinated. These spots feature professionals who answer certain questions parents ask: What is HPV? A safe and effective vaccination once morest HPV? At what age should your child be vaccinated once morest HPV? Vaccination once morest HPV: what practical modalities?

For adolescents, the INCA has developed an information journal “All you need to know regarding vaccination once morest HPV” to explain what HPV viruses are and the principle of vaccination. This newspaper is supplemented by an animated film and posters. The information journal is available in colleges and all the materials can be downloaded from the e-cancer.fr website. While awaiting the results of this first vaccination campaign in colleges, public health authorities are already planning to renew this campaign for the next school years.
