Florida’s governor has signed into law what is also known as the Don’t Say Gay Act. LGBTQ+ representatives in particular feel discriminated once morest and marginalized by the new law. Is Florida no longer a safe destination for the LGBTQ+ community?

The law prohibits addressing different sexual orientations
A new law recently signed into law by Florida conservative Gov. Ron DeSantis prohibits children in elementary schools educate regarding different sexual orientations. In particular, the representatives of LGBTQ-Community strongly criticize the law.
In terms of content, the controversial law prohibits children under the age of ten educate regarding different sexual orientations and gender identities. In addition, teachers and carers should also be forbidden to talk to older children and young people regarding topics that are considered inappropriate.
However, the legal text avoids terms such as bi, trans or gay. Rather should no differences between the sexes, identities and orientations may be discussed in the classroom. The official purpose of the law should be to Parents’ rights in school education (also the official name of the law) to strengthen. They should have the opportunity to raise their children independently and to educate them regarding topics such as sexuality and sexual orientation according to their own wishes.
Florida is still a safe travel destination
There is no doubt that a culture war between conservatives and liberals is raging in Florida – not least because of the forthcoming elections. The conservative governor of the state wants to score points with potential voters by making certain topics taboo in the classroom. Among other things, he accepts the marginalization of the LGBTQ community.
However, this attitude in no way reflects the general mood in the state. This is also reflected in the massive headwind that the controversial law has received – including from the US President himself. Overall, therefore, sentiment in Florida cannot be considered hostile towards gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer people. A Vacation in Florida is therefore still possible for them without any problems. Miami city trips or city tours to Orlando, usually combined with a visit to Disneyland, are very popular during a stay in Florida.
