V3-ALTER save data dumping & writing procedure

The “Open Source Cartridge Reader V3-ALTER” is the definitive version of the multi-damper. One unit supports 6 models such as Super Famicom and NINTENDO 64, and by using an optional adapter, you can cover 6 types such as Famicom and PC Engine. Let’s see how to dump save data with this V3-ALTER.

Dump save data with V3-ALTER

V3-ALTER supports not only games but also save data dumping. Moreover, it is possible not only to suck out but also to write to the cartridge, so it is possible to take over the save data that you have played so far to the emulator.

Conversely, you can also write the save data you played on the emulator to a cartridge and play it on the actual machine. You can also back up important save data.

Let’s take a look at the procedure for dumping and writing save data for V3-ALTER. First, insert the cartridge into the main unit, and switch the switch on the right side of the main unit according to the hardware in the same way as when extracting the ROM image.

Then turn on V3-ALTER and select hardware. Select “Read Save” from the menu to start dumping. When “Done” is displayed, the save data has been dumped.

The save data sucked out by V3-ALTER is created in a SAVE folder for each hardware in the microSD card, and is written in it.

If you want to write back the save data, select “Write Save” in the menu. Since “Select XX file” appears, it is OK if you select the save data you want to write back.
