V. Zelensky: V. Putin would use the veto of Ukraine’s EU membership negotiations

“It will not benefit the people of Europe if Moscow gets a pass from Brussels in the form of a negative attitude towards Ukraine. Putin will undoubtedly use this against you personally and against all of Europe,” V. Zelenskiy told the EU summit via video link.

The media quoted V. Zelensky’s request to the heads of states and governments of the Community not to give in to doubts and not betray their faith in Europe.

“This day will go down in our history. Whether it’s good or bad for us, history will record it all. Every word, every step, every action and inaction. Who fought for what,” he said.

“It is very important that Europe does not sink back into indecision today. Nobody wants Europe to be seen as untrustworthy. Or as unable to make decisions that she prepared herself,” said the President of Ukraine.

V. Zelensky, whose words are also quoted on his Telegram channel, also emphasized that Ukraine has fulfilled all the “homework” assigned to it by the EU last year.

“We are talking about the solution that was promised. And I haven’t heard any counter-argument why we shouldn’t implement a plan that has been agreed upon by all of Europe,” he said.

“We passed important laws. All of you – I emphasize: all of you – know very well that we have fulfilled all our obligations,” V. Zelenskis said.

“Today I ask you one thing – do not betray the people and their faith in Europe,” he said. “If no one believes in Europe, who will support the life of the European Union?”
