The Danish leader arrived in Ukraine on the eve of the second anniversary of Russia’s second large-scale invasion.

Before sitting down at the negotiating table, the two leaders visited the Lychakiv cemetery, where they paid tribute to the memory of fallen Ukrainian soldiers.

On Thursday, Denmark announced that it had concluded a 10-year security agreement with Kyiv. This announcement was made during the presentation of the 15th package of military aid to Ukraine, worth 1.7 billion, by the Danish Ministry of Defense. crowns (228.1 million euros).

Copenhagen also said the first F-16 fighter jets, which it promised to deliver to Ukraine last year with the Netherlands and Norway, would be sent by the summer “if everything goes according to plan.”

During a press conference held in Lviv on Friday followingnoon, M. Frederiksen reiterated that the fighter jets can reach Ukraine by the summer.

She said the delivery of the planes was now delayed due to technical reasons.

“It takes serious infrastructure to maintain these fighters, and we understand that training for the F-16 is much longer and more time-consuming than training for any other weapon system or aircraft,” she said.

For his part, President V. Zelenskiy did not specify the exact dates at the press conference, but emphasized that Ukraine will receive some of the fighter jets this year.

“We will get part of what we agreed on this year, that’s a fact, because the relevant pilots, teams and technical teams, crews, infrastructure things have to be prepared. I saw the work plan for the acquisition of planes, it is divided into certain half-years,” said the head of state.
