V. Zelenskis, who is visiting Argentina, emphasized the importance of the fight for freedom

Both Moscow and Kyiv have tried to win over Latin American countries divided over the response to Russia’s full-scale war in Ukraine.

“The support and strong united voice of the Latin American countries that support the people of Ukraine in their struggle for freedom and democracy is very important to us,” V. Zelenskiy said on the X social network after the meetings.

V. Zelenskis is visiting Buenos Aires, where the swearing-in ceremony of J. Milei as president took place. It was attended by many world leaders.

He wrote on the Telegram social network: “Today I attended Javier Milei’s inauguration in Buenos Aires and congratulated the new president.”

“This is a new beginning for Argentina, and I wish President Milla and the entire Argentine nation to surprise the world with their success,” he said. “I am also convinced that bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Argentina will continue to expand.”

The Ukrainian leader also said he was grateful to Uruguayan President Luis Lacalle Pou and his country “for supporting Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

He welcomed Uruguay’s participation in the third meeting of foreign advisers on the implementation of the Ukraine peace formula and invited Ecuador and Paraguay to join.

V. Zelenskiy spoke with the head of Paraguay, Santiago Pena, and “thanked him for his firm support of Ukraine in international organizations.”

In conversations with the President of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, V. Zelenskis also discussed opportunities to expand bilateral cooperation.

All three South American countries voted in favor of the United Nations resolution adopted this February calling for an end to the war in Ukraine.
