Appearing on the radar in May 2021, V Rising, the new title from Stunlock Studios began to make waves at the end of the year, announcing a title that is halfway between Valheim and Diablo. But it was without warning that the title broke everything when it was released in early access.

Make reign of terror and overcome Dracula

After the MOBA Battlerite, Stunlock Studios therefore decided to look into on the side of survival, sandbox and hack’n’slash. For simplicity, V Rising invites players to take control of a vampirethe purpose of which is to feed itself but also to build a castle from which he can dominate the poor mortals of the region.

We start in the shoes of a fairly weak vampire, then, by dint of sow terror, collect resources, develop the fortress and improve its equipment and skills, we begin to create a dark Vampiric Empire. Obviously, the day/night cycle is important since the sun is, as legend has it, particularly harmful. The principle of V Rising is therefore relatively simple, but seems to work very well since early access ratings are overall very positive. The title has more PvP and PvE serverswhich tends to motivate groups of friends to go out together in search of blood.

But where V Rising surprised was when we learned this weekend that 500,000 copies of the game, offered in its basic version at €19.99had been sold in four days only. Enough to finance the rest of the development, and to breathe a little better on the side of the team. But the title also brought players together this weekend, making constantly progressing statistics of the title outside off-peak hours. On May 19, and according to data from Steam Charts, there were up to 83,000 players connected simultaneously to the game, 101,000 on May 20, 130,000 on May 21, before crossing the 150,600 player mark last night.

A record that might be beaten tonight, since the number of players on the title did not drop below 68,000 last night, and already reached 100,000 players on Monday. Currently, V Rising is the 8th most played game on Steam ahead of a wallpaper creation tool and Team Fortress 2. It is just behind Grand Theft Auto V, NARAKA: BLADEPOINT, Apex Legendset PUBG. The top 3 is as often occupied by CS : GO (654,439 players), Lost Ark (614,331 players) and Dota 2 (502,930 players).
