It’s hard to miss V Rising, the hack’slash-oriented survival game developed by Stunlock Studios. Placing us in the shoes of a vampire in search of power, the title was a hit as soon as it arrived in early access.

A success, but a game still in development

In four days, V Rising sold 500,000 copies on Steam, then 1 million copies In a week. Can be played solo but first and foremost designed for multiplayerthe title already has a content important enough for early accesswhich allows you to collect resources, explore, build a castle and begin your ascent to the rank of vampiric tyrant.

The mechanics are also well oiled and we expect above all additions to vary the pleasures. Many things are planned, but in the meantime, the developers are polishing their title. Bugs and other technical issues have been identified, and a new hotfix was released early this morning, temporarily. No major changes, but there are new graphics options, improved menus, and some bug fixes:

  • Added texture quality to graphics options, which can significantly reduce memory usage.
  • Added FPS number option to advanced graphics options.
  • Low quality atmosphere changed to high quality atmosphere to keep the options menu consistent.
  • Fixed a bug where the anti-aliasing option could not be set to anything other than TAA in the main menu.
  • Stairs have been added to the Castle Floors tab in the Build menu to make it easier for players to find them.
  • Fixed missing meshes on some world objects.
  • Fixed an issue that caused a performance hit when hitting the Night Marshal Styx the Sunderer with specific abilities (ex. Mirror Strike).

As soon as published, as soon as withdrawn

However, like any self-respecting patch, it introduced a new problem, forcing developers to revert to the pre-patch version. It’s something quite classic, sometimes painful, but which allows developers to gradually reduce the range of possible problems. The problem introduced with this new update causes white screens among a number of players, and seems to be widespread enough to cancel update. The studio was made aware very quickly, and communicated on the subject from this morning:

After today’s patch, some players reported a white screen issue. We have now rolled back the update and it is safe to play again. We will try to figure out why this happened and fix it before patching again. Sorry for the inconvenience !

Stunlock Studios has not yet communicated on a redeployment window, but will be sure to announce it as soon as the issue has been resolved. In the meantime, players should be able to enjoy V Rising without a hitch.
