“Our priority is to reject the mega-DNU,” said Germán Martínez, head of the Unión por la Patria bloc of deputies.
That message is shared by the rest of the members of the bench that exercises the harshest opposition to the strategy of the libertarian government, which the DNU signed last Wednesday and which this Tuesday will finalize the entry into Congress of a macro bill with reforms integral aspects linked to the functioning of the State.
That day the extraordinary session period will begin until January 31, with the intention of bringing said reform to the premises, but also the implementation of the single paper ballot and the return of the income tax, under the new name of personal income taxes.
Vanesa Siley, UxP deputy and in turn a representative of the judicial union, expanded the bet and pointed out that to stop the DNU “we must use all the legal and constitutional tools at our disposal: the demonstration, the judicial channels and the parliament.” .
With respect to the DNU, UxP seeks to negotiate eight places in the Bicameral Legislative Procedure Commission, four for each chamber, although the libertarians, together with other non-K spaces, are not willing to give them half of the places, beyond the fact that They are the first minority in both chambers. However, LLA still has not guaranteed the possibility of overcoming the bicameral instance, given the rejection of the “forms” of the DNU faced by Javier Milei that are exercised by several of the spaces that made up Together for Change.
With the PRO Front with practically guaranteed support, due to the number of legislators and political weight, it is the space that is being targeted to find out how it will act in the face of the two parliamentary challenges in the coming weeks.
In this sense, they offer the Government three alternatives to be able to reach an understanding, although for now they have not received concrete signals of wanting to advance in said negotiations. One of them is the mirror bill, with the modifications made through the DNU, although it is the one with the least chance. Another possibility they ask for is to divide the decree into several decrees, with the possibility of analyzing them separately in the commission, while the third option is to modify the current 2006 law to be able to incorporate partial approvals or rejections to decree 70/2023.
At the internal level, for now there is no definitive agreement and they will wait for the development of the debate, for which there is still no call date, as reported by the Presidency of the Chamber of Deputies.
However, deputy Francisco Monti, one of those chosen to integrate the bicameral, gave a first sample of his future position in the commission: “Argentina was for decades in captivity as a result of mafia governance and plagued by perks that cost dearly. . Enough”.
