11/15/2022, Xalapa, Ver.- Students of the Educational Program (PE) Higher University Technician (TSU) in Radiology, attached to the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad Veracruzana (UV), organized the 4th Conference on Radiology, on November 15 and 16, in memory of Jorge Viveros Parker, former academic of that educational entity and exponent of radiology at a local, national and international level.
During the event held within the framework of World Radiology Day, which is celebrated every November 8 for the discovery –in 1895– of X-rays, Mónica Sandoval García, director of the Faculty of Medicine, stressed that the purpose of The conference is to attract the attention of the population and create awareness of the benefits of medical imaging and its evolution through constant technological innovation.
In the Hybrid Classroom Number 3, before students and academics, he explained that radiology is the medical specialty in charge of generating images of the interior of the body through different physical agents: X-rays, ultrasounds, magnetic fields, among others.
Subsequently, these images are used for diagnosis and, to a lesser extent, for the prognosis and treatment of diseases, since with access to quality imaging services and well-trained professionals, lives can be saved.
Therefore, he recognized the initiative of the students in organizing these conferences in memory of Dr. Viveros Parker, who was a professor at the Faculty and a pioneer in Xalapa of radiological practice by bringing state-of-the-art technology that, to date, continues to be a benchmark .
Seven years following his departure from the earthly plane, Sandoval García recalled the treatment and human quality of Jorge Viveros towards his patients, family members and doctors who requested his services, as well as his professional and institutional performance as a radiologist at the Regional Hospital of Xalapa ” Luis F. Nachón”.

“He was always a person willing to help in the diagnosis, regardless of the sociocultural level of the patients, making that warmth palpable.”
As an academic, Viveros Parker was a trainer for many generations of students, both inside the classroom and in the hospital where he worked.
Regardless of the public or private sector, he was a clear example of empathy towards his patients, and real proof that love for the profession will always be recognized despite time, he stressed.
After the inauguration, by Lauro Fernández Cañedo, responsible for the Coordination of Medical Education; Claudia Magdalena López Hernández, secretary of the Faculty of Medicine, also highlighted the interest of students in seeking other alternatives or courses that allow them to enhance the knowledge and skills they must acquire during their training.
In this sense, he said that the Faculty of Medicine gives them all the support so that they acquire these necessary skills and can practice the profession, especially now that face-to-face activities have been resumed.
The official also announced that the PE is in high demand, however, in each entry period only 32 students are accepted.

The degree of terminal efficiency is optimal, he said, and all efforts are made to maintain it, because due to their role in timely diagnosis and primary health care, graduates must be well prepared and trained.
On the first day of activities, the conferences addressed: History of radiology and physical principles of X-rays; What is a mammogram; 3D conformal radiotherapy in craniospinal treatment; EVC: imaging approach; Breast tomosynthesis; Updates on the imaging approach in COVID-19; and Artificial intelligence in radiology.
Topics such as spinal column infections: imaging approach; Contrast media; virtual colonography; biological effects of X-rays-TSU; Utility of hybrid studies; and MRI of skeletal muscle.
At the inauguration, the presence of Teresita del Niño de Jesús Aguilar López, teacher counselor, stood out.
