UTN Opens Doors for Engineering Careers in Neuquén’s Heart
Prospective students aspiring to enter the dynamic world of engineering have a new opportunity. The State Technical University of Neuquén Region (UTN) , located in Plaza Huincul, is currently accepting applications for two degree programs: Chemistry and Electronics. The deadline to register for these free programs is December 20th.
These engineering programs are strategically aligned with the region’s burgeoning energy and industrial landscape, with Neuquén playing a
pivotal role in projects like Vaca Muerta and Energiewende. “We’re deeply connected to regional developments,” explains Patricia González, Academic Secretary of UTN–FRN. “It’s our goal to equip graduates with the skills they need to thrive in this dynamic environment.”
The three-year programs offer a robust blend of theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience.
“Our curriculum is designed to be around 70% practical,” says González, highlighting the university’s commitment to preparing graduates for real-world challenges. “Our faculty, with their extensive academic and professional backgrounds, bring relevant industry experience to the classroom.” In addition to theoretical foundations, students benefit from access to a modern laboratory, inaugurated in October, which acts as a space for technology-driven innovation. Collaborations with
industries, public organizations, and other institutions further enrich the learning experience, ensuring students are well-prepared for immediate entry into the industry.
Further solidifying UTN’s commitment to its students, an admissions seminar, divided into two modules on Mathematics and Physics, as well as Introduction to College, is mandatory for first year entrants. This seminar will run from January 27th to February 28th, 2025,
and is required for both programs.
For those who reside outside Plaza Huincul or Cutral Co and may need temporary accommodations, UTN offers the possibility to live at the Zapala Aulica Extension while they pursue their studies.
Accommodation Available for Students in Need
The university also provides on-campus housing at its FRN dormitories, which can accommodate up to 60 students. These rooms are shared and offer communal kitchens, study spaces, bathrooms, showers, and laundry facilities. Entry into the dormitories is determined based on socioeconomic need.
To officially apply, interested individuals must visit the UTN website and complete the online registration form.
