Utkin about Pele: “King. No one was so gifted so comprehensively. Maradona had only his left leg, Cruyff was the Lennon of football, Messi was a genius, there is no need to crown him” – Football

Vasily Utkin explained why Pele is called the king of football.

Three-time world champion in the national team Brazil died December 29. He was 82 years old.

“The King is dead, but there is no new King, and no one is long live by that.

Pele is the King, and Maradona, no doubt, should be compared with another person. And such a person was in Pele’s career – nearby. He was an assistant, but not a squire. It was Garrincha. Maradona is the world’s Garrincha around Pele.

Garrincha in Brazil was called “People’s Joy”. He was partly the antipode of Pele. After all, Garrincha is a cripple. He has one leg shorter than the other. He made a style out of it; but one way or another – Pele was a demonstration of human capabilities.

He is a super athlete. It’s hard to be like that. It’s actually harder, of course, to be on top as a Garrincha. By the way, Pele did not come to the funeral of Garrincha. But you never know what there were reasons.

He is the King. None of the potential rivals was not gifted so comprehensively. Maradona had only his left leg, and no comparison in power. Cruyff had too special a motivation. He is not a king, he is the Lennon of football. Messi is a genius. There is no need to crown him.

The king is him. Mighty. The first of the stars to become a brand. Synthesis of power and genius. And the brain.

If you didn’t have to be smart, Ronaldinho could beat. Phenomenal athlete with skills and cosmic game thinking; but… But a fool. And Pele was smart. And all that can be said about it…
