SALT LAKE CITY – Seventeen Utah Football alumni are expected to suit up on active rosters in the NFL this weekend and 23 former Utes find themselves with teams in the league entering Week 6.
The number of Pro Utes on active rosters jumped by one this week as Washington’s Terrell Burgess was elevated from the Commanders’ practice squad. The fourth-year safety has appeared in 31 games during his career, spending 2020-22 with the Los Angeles Rams and finishing the ’22 campaign with the New York Giants.
Thursday Night Football, plus nine other games on Sunday, claim at least one former Ute on an active roster. Among the matchups, Britain Covey’s Philadelphia Eagles are now 5-0 and are the last remaining undefeated team in the NFL; Covey and the Eagles head up to MetLife Stadium for a meeting with the Jets on Sunday.

Along with the player connections to Utah, former Ute Alex Whittingham continues his sixth season with the Kansas City Chiefs as defensive quality control coach. Brian Johnson is also on the Philadelphia Eagles sideline for his third season on staff and first as offensive coordinator.
Recapping Week 5
What a week it was for the Indianapolis trio of Julian Blackmon, Matt Gay and Zack Moss—all teammates during their days at Utah. Blackmon had five tackles and sealed the win over Tennessee with an interception, while Gay connected on three field goals and two PATs. Moss contributed his second 100-yard game in three weeks, scoring two touchdowns along the way.
