Usman Khan’s century, Karachi Kings third defeat in a row in Karachi

In the three matches of Pakistan Super League 9 played in Karachi so far, Karachi Kings have lost and this time the defeating team was Multan Sultans.

Karachi Kings have lost against Islamabad United first then Quetta Gladiators and now Multan Sultans at their home ground.

It was Multan Sultans’ sixth win in the tournament, with them remaining at the top of the points table with 12 points and becoming the first team to qualify for the playoffs.

Multan Sultans set a target of 190 runs thanks to a fine century by Usman Khan and another half-century by captain Muhammad Rizwan.

In this tournament, Multan Sultans have faced defeat only by Peshawar Zalmi so far while they have won against all other teams in the matches played in Karachi, Multan and Lahore.

In this match against Karachi Kings too, the bowlers after the batsmen showed excellent bowling as they have been doing so far in the tournament.

Captain Shaan Masood and Shoaib Malik were the prominent batsmen for Karachi Kings who played an innings of 36 and 38 runs respectively while Karachi Kings were without their star batsman Kieron Pollard for this match.

Talking about the bowling of Multan Sultans, captain Muhammad Rizwan used six bowlers out of which five took wickets while only Faisal Akram was the only bowler to take a wicket.

David Willey, Muhammad Ali, Chris Jordan who played his first match in the tournament and Khushdil Shah got one each while Osama Mir who took the most wickets in the tournament also dismissed two players in this match. He has taken 15 wickets in this PSL so far.

Talking about the batting of Multan Sultans, their batting has not disappointed anywhere in this tournament. In this match too, they scored 189 runs for the loss of only three wickets, in which Usman Khan’s unbeaten century with the help of five sixes and ten fours and Muhammad Rizwan’s innings of 58 runs played an important role.

Usman Khan played an innings of 106 runs off 59 balls, on which he was declared the best player of the match.
