Using the artwork illegally, the company was fined heavily

The Saudi government issued a directive to destroy advertising material, imposing a hefty fine on a company illegally using a commercial entity’s artwork.

A commercial company filed a complaint with the Saudi authority under the copyright law, alleging that the artwork it produced was being used without permission.

Taking immediate action on the complaint from the Saudi Intellectual Property Authority, a fine of 148,000 riyals was imposed on the company guilty of copyright infringement.

After receiving the complaint from the company, the investigation team of the authority conducted an investigation and found that the complaint was true, on which disciplinary action was taken and a heavy fine was imposed on the company for using the artwork without permission.

The Saudi authority says that under the copyright law, using someone’s image or registered items without written permission is a violation of the law and the authority reserves the right to take disciplinary action.

While explaining the penalty, the authority said that the company whose artwork was used without permission should be paid 59,000 Rials as damages, in addition to the fine of 89,000 Rials for violating the law.

The infringing company is also required to remove and destroy all designs and advertising materials in the market that have been used without its permission.
