With the Suzuki SX4 there is hardly anything to complain regarding

Prospective buyers who are looking for a used, not too big car with a robust appearance might also find what they are looking for at Suzuki in the form of the SX4 S-Cross. At least during the main inspection, the crossover SUV hardly causes any problems.

The cross in the name of the Suzuki SX4 S-Cross stands for crossover rather than absolute off-road capability: the all-wheel drive is only an additional feature on the model. But the Japanese car is a mixture of a spacious passenger car and an SUV. During the main inspection (HU), the SX4 S-Cross hardly causes any problems.

model history

The SX4 S-Cross went on sale in 2013. It replaced its predecessor, the SX4. It was on the market until 2021. The new generation introduced in 2022, a thorough facelift, is only called the S-Cross.

body variants

Previously, the SX4 was still built as a notchback sedan and as a compact five-door, but since 2013 it has only been available with an SUV-style body.

Dimensions

4.30 x 1.77 x 1.58 meters (LxWxH); Trunk volume: 430 to 1269 liters.

Strengthen

The SX4 S-Cross can convince in almost all disciplines, writes the “Auto Bild TÜV Report 2022”. There are hardly any complaints to report in either the chassis or the brakes chapter. The handbrake function and the brake lines have a defect rate of 0.0. The exhaust systems are solid, the exhaust gas test (AU) has so far passed the car almost without problems.

weaknesses

The SX4 S-Cross slips when it comes to oil loss and lighting: Already at the first and second HU, the engine and transmission prove to be partially leaky, and the low beam and turn signals also weaken at the first check.

breakdown behavior

With regard to its breakdown statistics, the ADAC writes that the SX-4 performs “consistently well or very well”. The club cites the shift linkage on cars first registered in 2013 and 2014 as the only main point of failure.
