In recent weeks, rumors have been flying all over the place regarding the iPhone 15, several per day and even per hour. Everything is there: the materials, the capacities, the chassis, the colors, the components, the ports, the colors of the ports, the cables…
Des AirPods USB-C
Still, it looks like Mark Gurman still has some information up his sleeve. Indeed, the journalist – who is always very well informed and who has his secret entries in Cupertino – confirmed the Wonderlust keynote, and this, almost at the same time as Apple.
In an article on Bloomberg, he reflects on one of his summer announcements: To accompany the new iPhones, Apple will present updated AirPods at the event which integrates a USB-C charging port.
Which AirPods?
Currently, Apple sells four models in its catalog: AirPods 2, AirPods 3, AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods Max. It might be a simple upgrade of the AirPods Pro 2 case (with, suddenly, the possibility of acquiring it while keeping its headphones). But the AirPods 3, which are already two years old, might also get a bit more in-depth refresh. Finally, there remains Apple’s most expensive model, the AirPods Max released in December 2020 which may have a bigger update.
If the journalist does not specify which model would be concerned, he previously leaned in favor of a new AirPods Pro 2 case. In addition, Cupertino would be working on a hearing test feature, which would be added to the new features of 17 dedicated to AirPods and presented at the last WWDC.
The feature would play different sounds into the user’s ear. On the basis of the answers given, it would make it possible to detect possible hearing problems. The approach is similar to the ECG feature of the Apple Watch and might be accessed through the iPhone’s Health app. In the longer term, Mark Gurman recalls that Apple is also working on new health sensors that can take body temperature via the ear canal.
One thing is certain, they will not be in the box of the iPhone 15…
