Who do you think goes faster between the greatest sprinter in history, Usain Bolt, and third generation Formula E? The answer is the Jamaican himself who gives it to you! “This is the only time I’ll ever say something is faster than me!” » The former athlete, now retired from the tracks, went to Mexico for the kick-off of Formula E Season 10. For the man nicknamed “Lightning”, it made sense!
The eight-time Olympic champion and current world record holder in the 100 meters transformed himself into a racing driver for a few minutes, and had the opportunity to drive an electric single-seater similar to the Gen3s on the grid. Similar, because the car that Usain Bolt had in his hands is not a classic Gen3, but a GenBeta, an even faster version which has 50KW of additional power and a four-wheel drive transmission. The latter had broken the indoor speed record (218.7 km/h) during the London E-Prix last year.

The Jamaican was even able to complete a final 100 meters… but by car, on the straight of the Autodromo Hermanos Rodríguez. Result: a 100 meters completed in 4.36 seconds, more than five seconds less than his own walking record! “The car is like a rocket on wheelsconfided Usain Bolt following his experience aboard the car. Getting the chance to drive it was a mind-blowing experience. The power at the start was such a surprise and the adrenaline felt is easily on a whole new level. Driving GenBeta is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. »
