Despite an improvement in the new vehicle supply chain, the latest study from iSeeCars found that today’s average new car price is 8.8 percent above MSRP.
iSeeCars analyzed more than 12 million new car sales between February 2022 and February 2023 to identify (a) today’s dealer prices compared to MSRP, (b) the trend over the past 12 months, and (c ) the top 10 cars with the highest price above MSRP and the top 10 with prices closest to MSRP

The gap between average MSRP and dealer asking prices narrowed from last year’s high of 10.2% (July 2022) to a low of 8.8% in February 2023.
Selling prices and MSRPs remain near all-time highs, at $41,637 and $45,296, respectively.
Jeep Wrangler is the second highest priced car above MSRP (23.9% above MSRP)
Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is the #1 Lowest Priced Car relative to MSRP (-1.9% below MSRP)
