A suspect has been arrested in the slaying of three cousins from Mexico whose bodies were found in a vacant lot in Phoenix last month, police said.
Sgt. Philip Krynsky, a spokesman for the Phoenix Police Department, identified the suspect as 21-year-old Juan Vargas, but said the investigation was ongoing and no additional information regarding the slayings was immediately available.
The cousins were from the Mexican state of Oaxaca and relatives said they drove to Wisconsin to live with relatives, Phoenix television ABC15 reported.
Vargas was booked on suspicion of first-degree murder in committing a felony, in addition to kidnapping, armed robbery with a deadly weapon and abandoning or concealing a body, according to jail records.
It is unknown if Vargas has a lawyer to speak regarding his judicial status.
Police identified the victims as Herminio Pérez Ramírez, 28; Isauro Martínez Domínguez, 21; and Abimael Jiménez Morenos, 16.
Their bodies had obvious signs of trauma, police said.
