The National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) announces the appointment of Paolo Messa as Executive Vice President for International Relations and Strategic Partnerships.
Messa boasts over 20 years of experience within leading Italian institutions, companies and government bodies. Founder of Formiche magazine, he was most recently Chairman of the Board of Directors of Leonardo US Corporation and currently holds the position of Nonresident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council in Washington DC.
“We are honored to have Paolo Messa join NIAF in this crucial role that strengthens our international relations and strategic partnerships,” said NIAF President Robert Allegrini.
“His extensive experience working with influential Italian institutions, businesses and government bodies makes him an ideal ambassador to represent NIAF’s mission to foster ties between the United States and Italy.” As Executive Vice President, Messa will lead NIAF’s international relations team with the aim of organizing programs, events and initiatives aimed at strengthening commercial, political and cultural relations between the two nations.
Before his role at Leonardo, Messa was executive director of the Center for American Studies in Rome and was part of the board of directors of RAI and Conai. Author and professor, Messa is a member of prestigious think-tanks such as the Atlantic Council and the European Council on Foreign Relations. “I am thrilled to join NIAF and make my experience available to promote cooperation and exchanges between United States and Italy,” Messa said. “These two nations share a historic bond thanks to the millions of Italian Americans well represented in the United States Congress and in American institutions at all levels.
NIAF plays a vital role in cultivating this special relationship that feeds on cultural, governmental and commercial relationships.” Messa will work from Washington DC and travel frequently to Italy.
