Former US President Bill Clinton will on Tuesday attend a security conference being held in Prague on the 25th anniversary of NATO’s first eastward enlargement.
It was March 12, 1999 when three former Eastern Bloc countries joined the North Atlantic Treaty Organization: the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary.
A large part of public opinion in these three countries considers membership in NATO – which now has 32 members, following Sweden’s accession – very important, once morest the background of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which is already in its third year.
Bill Clinton, 77, who served as US president from 1993 to 2001, will be among the keynote speakers at the conference, titled “Our Security Cannot Be Taken For Granted.” The conference will also be attended by Czech President, former general Petr Pavel and former NATO Secretary General George Robertson.
