New scandal for Robert F. Kennedy, who last month suspended his campaign for the White House by giving his endorsement to Donald Trump. While he was still a presidential candidate, JFK’s grandson allegedly had an affair with a well-known journalist from New York magazine. The New York newspaper has in fact reported that Olivia Nuzzi admitted to “having had a personal relationship with a former senior figure in the 2024 campaign while she was covering the campaign.” And that she had therefore placed the journalist on leave pending an “independent review.” The name of the candidate was not specified, but informed sources confirmed to CNN that it was the former independent candidate, explaining that the nature of the affair was of an emotional nature, with an exchange of digital messages and no physical involvement.

“Mr. Kennedy met Olivia Nuzzi only once in his life for the interview she requested, which turned out to be an attack piece,” a spokesperson for the anti-vax lawyer told CNN. But Nuzzi, in another statement to CNN, admits that her relationship with the person interviewed has become “personal” and regrets not having communicated this to her publication. “Earlier this year, the nature of some communications between me and a person I interviewed became personal,” the journalist said. “During this period, I did not write directly about this person, nor did I use them as a source. The relationship was never physical, but I should have disclosed it to avoid a conflict of interest. I deeply regret not having done so and I apologize to the people I have disappointed, especially my colleagues.”

Kennedy has been married to actress Cheryl Hines since 2014, who has so far declined to comment on the matter. New York magazine editor David Haskell said in a statement to staff that he was informed only “a few days ago” of Nuzzi’s relationship with Kennedy, which began in December – after the interview was published in November – and ended in August.
