US Westinghouse CEOs to discuss nuclear power export cooperation with KEPCO and KHNP

The presidents of Westinghouse, USA, which possesses world-class nuclear power generation technology, will visit Korea to discuss ways to cooperate with domestic public power companies to export nuclear power plants.

According to the industry on the 7th, the Westinghouse presidents of the United States will visit Korea on the 8th and hold a series of closed talks with public power companies such as Korea Electric Power Corporation, Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, and KEPCO KPS for two days and one night.

It is known that the Westinghouse president’s visit to Korea was carried out to find ways to cooperate in exporting nuclear power plants between Korea and the United States.

Westinghouse President and CEO Patrick Fragman, Asia regional president Gavin Ryu, and Korea branch manager Kim Jong-un plan to meet with KEPCO and KEPCO KPS on the 8th and KHNP on the 9th, respectively.

The industry believes that the meeting between Westinghouse and domestic companies will become the basis for cooperation in winning orders for overseas nuclear power plants. Westinghouse has provided nuclear reactors and engineering source technology to more than half of the world’s nuclear power plants. Kori Unit 1, Korea’s first commercial nuclear power plant, was also built with Westinghouse’s technology.
