The United States of America welcomed the declaration of a cease-fire between Israel and the Palestinian factions in Gaza, praising the Egyptian government for mediating the agreement.
According to Russia Today, White House spokeswoman Karen Jean-Pierre said in a statement, “US officials worked closely with regional partners to find this solution to hostilities in order to prevent further loss of life and restore calm to Israelis and Palestinians alike.” .
The cease-fire agreement between Israel and the Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip entered into force on Sunday night, ending a round of mutual shelling between them that lasted for 5 days, in which 34 Palestinians and one Israeli were killed.
And identical Palestinian and Egyptian sources announced that Israel and the Palestinian factions had reached a cease-fire agreement that would start at 19:00 GMT, under the auspices of Cairo.
