UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The United States on Wednesday vetoed a U.N. resolution condemning Hamas attacks on Israel and all violence once morest civilians, and calling for aid to Palestinians in Gaza.
The vote in the 15-member Security Council was 12 in favor, the United States once morest and two abstentions.
U.S. Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield said following the vote that President Joe Biden is in the region conducting diplomatic activity “and we need that diplomacy to work.” She criticized the resolution because it did not mention Israel’s right to defend itself.
