United States (US) Defense Minister Lloyd Austin on Thursday (7/11) stated that Israel still needed to make more efforts even though it had made some progress in sending aid to the Gaza Strip.

“We’ve made some progress but there’s still work to be done,” Austin told reporters in Florida.

Last month, Austin and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken sent a letter to their Israeli counterparts urging improvements to humanitarian conditions in Gaza within 30 days or risk an arms embargo from the United States.

“I will not comment specifically on the contents of this letter from myself, Secretary Blinken, and our colleagues, which is not intended for public consumption,” said Austin.

Israel has continued to launch devastating attacks on Gaza since a cross-border attack by the Hamas group on October 7, 2023, which has killed nearly 43,500 people and made the territory almost uninhabitable. (Ant/Z-2)
