US stocks open lower as interest rate concerns persist

(Archyde.com) – US stock market indices opened lower on Thursday, influenced by data that suggested the Federal Reserve (the US central bank) would go on its course to raise interest rates sharply to curb inflation.

The industrial index fell 10.41 points, or 0.03 percent, at the open to 3,124.68 points.

The Standard & Poor’s index began down 13.60 points, or 0.34 percent, to 3,932.41.

The Nasdaq Composite Index fell 86.44 points, or 0.74 percent, to 11633.24 at the start of trading.
