Eight people were shot dead in three different massage parlors in the southern US state of Georgia within a short period of time on Tuesday. A good three hours following the incidents in and around the capital Atlanta, the police arrested a 21-year-old suspected of having been involved in the incidents, as US media reported, citing the police.
Four people died in the followingnoon (local time) in Cherokee County, regarding 50 kilometers north of Atlanta, in an Asian massage parlor. Four other people were killed just an hour later by gunfire at two Atlanta spas. A motive has not yet been announced.
Atlanta police said the man in custody was “very likely” responsible for all three incidents, CNN reported. Videos would prove that. However, work is still in progress to confirm that all three cases are linked, the broadcaster NBC News reported. Initially, it was said that there was no evidence that the incidents were related.
NBC News and CNN reported that the four people killed in Atlanta were women who appeared to have Asian roots. There was initially no information regarding the four victims of Cherokee County.
