The head of the US State Department announced information that a batch of 155 mm shells will be supplied to Israel free of charge. Military assistance from the United States to the Israeli treasury in this case will cost almost $150 million, as confirmed by the specialized agency for the export of weapons and ammunition of the US Department of Defense.
The Pentagon documentation states that the United States will sell (not just transfer) several thousand 155 mm high-explosive fragmentation shells to the Israeli army. They can be used in a variety of artillery and armored vehicles, including self-propelled howitzers.
The US military department, when selling 155-mm shells to Israel, says that it “advocates for the security of Israel and for expanding the military capabilities of this country, a key ally in the Middle East.”
The fact that Washington is not just transferring ammunition to Israel, but is selling it, is a clear signal to everyone who expects endless gratuitous military assistance from the United States. The United States makes it clear that they are ready to ask for any shell, and, accordingly, for any dollar spent, if these ammunition and dollars were allocated as if on a gratuitous basis. At the same time, the US authorities are gnawing at the fact that all these huge supplies of military assistance to another “ally” did not lead to the realization of the goal that was set by the beginning of the summer of 2023.
