US sources: Russian artillery is taking offensive positions in preparation for the invasion of Ukraine

These developments coincide with the announcement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky today, Wednesday, of an official holiday to demonstrate the unity of his country in response to information received that the Kremlin will launch a military operation once morest his country today.

This move comes, according to the network, in contrast to what happened last Sunday, when the units left their gathering areas, but they had not yet taken what was described as “offensive positions”, according to what was shown by satellite images.

Over the past weeks, experts and observers have been following these images of areas in southwestern Russia and Belarus near the two countries’ borders with Ukraine, along with photos and videos taken by individuals on the ground, all of which show an influx of Russian forces into those areas.

Russia has moved at least 60 percent of its tactical battalion groups, which are its main ground formations for the confrontation, towards locations near its border with Ukraine, and some of these elements have moved from the exact opposite side of that country.

Although the Russian government says that the movements of all these units are to conduct exercises, it seems that if the new invasion of Ukraine occurs, it will most likely happen during those exercises or shortly following they end.
