[ワシントン 8日 ロイター] – U.S. Secretary of State Brinken said on the 8th that he has shared information with dozens of countries around the world regarding a Chinese spy balloon that invaded U.S. airspace.

At a joint press conference held following the meeting with NATO Secretary General Stoltenberg, Secretary-General Brinken said that while the recovery of the balloon shot down by the U.S. military continued, the balloon was “almost an hourly unit.” It said it had further information and that relevant information would be shared with Congress as well as with U.S. allies and partners.

When asked if Chinese President Xi Jinping was aware of the balloon flight, he said, “Who is responsible is China, it doesn’t matter which individual is responsible. It has engaged in irresponsible actions that violate the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the United States and international law.”

He said his talks with Secretary-General Stoltenberg discussed the organizational and tactical challenges China poses to NATO.

Stoltenberg stressed that the balloon issue confirmed China’s pattern of behavior and emphasized the need to always be aware of the risks of China’s espionage activities. He also noted that China has “massively” increased its military capabilities, including nuclear weapons, without transparency.
