In addition to the exercises scheduled by the United States Command for Africa (AFRICOM), Morocco might be invited to participate in exercises organized by the American Army in the Middle East. Currently, the Democratic American Senator, Mark Kelly, pleads for the Kingdom to be associated with the exercises of the US CENTCOM, the American command in the Middle East. The senator, whose word is respected in the US Senate, has formally recommended the integration of the Kingdom. This was the subject of a press release published on its website official and which announces the priorities of the senator within the framework of the bill relating to defense.
Regarding security and foreign policy cooperation, Senator Kelly proposed to “support Morocco’s integration into military exercises led by CENTCOM. A recommendation justified by the need to “improve coordination between the United States. United and regional partners in the fight once morest the threat posed by Iran”.
Indeed, Mark Kelly formulated this proposal following the visit of a Congress delegation to Morocco on January 13, 2023, in which he took part. The United States Central Command or CENTCOM is one of the eleven Unified Combat Commands which has been under the United States Department of Defense since January 1, 1983. This Command is responsible for United States military operations in the Middle East, Central Asia, and South Asia.
