Monkeypox cases in the United States continued to rise, reaching 72 cases on Tuesday, according to the latest data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The cases have been discovered in 18 states, with California and New York reporting 15 cases each, the highest number among US states.
The World Health Organization has reported hundreds of suspected cases of monkeypox and smallpox worldwide.
The CDC urges healthcare providers across the United States to be alert to patients with rash illnesses consistent with monkeypox, whether or not they have traveled or have risk factors specific to monkeypox.
