The 52-year-old former US ambassador to the United Nations is regarding to withdraw her application, reported the Wall Street Journal. She will announce her withdrawal in a speech on Wednesday, it said, citing people familiar with the matter. There was no comment from Haley.
The last remaining party rival of ex-President Donald Trump had suffered a clear defeat on the so-called Super Tuesday the day before. She was only able to win the election in Vermont; all other states went to Trump.
The move would effectively turn the race for the White House into a duel between Trump and incumbent Joe Biden during the primaries.
