Israel-Gaza War: Biden Urges Israeli PM to Call for Ceasefire

US President Joe Biden has criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s approach to the ongoing conflict in Gaza, describing it as a “mistake.” In an interview with Univision, Biden urged Israel to call for a ceasefire and take steps to improve the dire conditions in Gaza.

Biden’s comments are the strongest yet from the US president regarding Netanyahu’s handling of the war. The conflict between Israel and Hamas has resulted in a high civilian death toll and has prompted international outrage.

“I think what he’s doing is a mistake. I don’t agree with his approach,” Biden stated. The president emphasized the need for Israel to call for a ceasefire and allow unrestricted access to food and medicine in Gaza for the next six to eight weeks.

This shift in Biden’s stance marks a change from his previous statements, in which he placed the burden of agreeing to a truce and a hostage release deal on Hamas.
