U.S. president Joe Biden said on January 27 that he had selected former COVID-19 Policy Coordinator Jeff Zients as White House Chief of Staff, replacing Ron Klain.
President Biden’s statement stated: “I have witnessed you Jeff Zients solve some of the toughest problems in government.”
Mr. Zients worked on the American Restoration Act under the administration of President Barack Obama, when Mr. Biden was still Vice President of the United States. He has also been involved in revising US health policies.

Under President Biden, Mr. Zients has been in charge of the COVID-19 pandemic response campaign, an operation that President Biden described as “logistics of historic magnitude.”
For his part, Klain has been a longtime aide and adviser to several Democratic presidents and vice presidents, and has served as Biden’s chief of staff since he took office in January 2021.
The replacement of the US President Chief of Staff of the White Houseespecially in his second year in power, is not unusual.
