US postpones Citgo auction to avoid impacting opposition in elections

The ambassador of Venezuela Samuel Moncada, speaking before the United Nations (UN), denounced that the United States Government and its allies in the Venezuelan opposition decided to postpone the Citgo auction from July to September. This action was taken to prevent the opposition from losing any support in the run-up to the July 28 elections.

In a message posted on his social media account X, the diplomat urged the Venezuelan people to identify these “mercenaries hired to plunder Venezuela.”

“Dirt in the eyes to deceive Venezuelans: The US and the mercenaries hired to plunder Venezuela delayed the date of the Citgo auction from July to September. All to prevent the people from punishing them in the July 28 elections. The people recognize the traitors!” Moncada posted on the social network.

The Citgo auction

Recently, the president of the National Assembly, Jorge Rodríguez, stated that the Venezuelan opposition, led by Juan Guaidó, Leopoldo López and Julio Borges, showed the United States (US) the way to take over Citgo.

During a debate in the plenary session of Parliament on the theft of Citgo by the United States, Rodríguez mentioned how the “prosecutor” appointed by Guaidó’s supposed “interim government” advised the company Cristalex to use Citgo to take measures once morest Venezuela.
