US pop singer Britney Spears suffered a miscarriage

A month following announcing her pregnancy, US pop singer Britney Spears lost her unborn child through a miscarriage. “It is with deepest sadness that we announce the loss of our miracle baby early in pregnancy,” the 40-year-old singer and her partner Sam Asghari, 28, wrote on Instagram yesterday.

Spears only announced her pregnancy once more on April 11. Despite all attempts to lose weight, she gained weight and thought: “Oh dear … What happened to my stomach?” She wrote on Instagram at the time. She then took a pregnancy test, “and uhhhhh… I’m having a baby.”

Spears has two sons with her ex-husband Kevin Federline: 16-year-old Sean and 15-year-old Jayden. Her ex-husband has custody of the two teenagers. After her miscarriage, the 40-year-old made it clear that she would not give up her desire for more offspring.

She and Asghari would “keep trying to add to our beautiful family,” the Instagram post said. In light of the sad event, the couple asked that their “privacy be respected at this difficult time.”
