In Florida, police officers opened fire while arresting shoplifters who stole Pokémon cards and pizza. As a result of the incident, one of the suspects died, three more were hospitalized with injuries. This was reported by the portal Vice.
According to court testimony, the attention of the police was attracted by a car with a smeared registration plate parked outside a Target supermarket. Two masked men stepped out of it and went to the store. Two more were in the car. Some time later, a Target employee called the police, saying that two young people took a pizza and several packages of Pokémon cards, following which they left without paying. A video from the store confirmed this fact.
After receiving a report of the crime, the police proceeded to arrest, during which one person was shot dead and three others were injured. For what reason the officers used firearms is still unknown. There is no evidence that the suspects were armed in the case file.
In March 2021, Tokyo Police delayed a thief who stole $9.1 thousand (₽687 thousand) Pokémon cards and $2.37 thousand (₽179 thousand) cash from a themed store. The offender entered the protected premises through the window, descending from the roof on a rope. And on September 10, in the Dutch city of Voorburg, two unknown robbed toy store by ramming its window with a van. The criminals also targeted Pokémon cards. In February 2022, a US resident kidnapped $250,000 (₽19 million) worth of Pokémon cards, breaking through the store wall.
