San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus on January 23 announced information regarding the suspect who carried out two shootings earlier the same day that left at least 7 people dead in the city of Half Moon Bay. .
According to Corpus, the suspect is named Chunli Zhao, 67 years old. Subject was arrested shortly following carrying out the shootings at the Mountain Mushroom and Rice Tucking-Soil farms in Half Moon Bay.
The suspect is an Asian laborer working on a farm who opened fire on people who worked with him.
NBC Bay Area quotes a city councilor Half Moon Bay said the victims were Chinese workers.

After the shooting, Zhao drove to the police office in Half Moon Bay. A video shows the subject being dragged to the ground by the authorities. A semi-automatic handgun was found in subject’s vehicle. The motive for the shooting is not yet known.
The incident comes less than 48 hours following a gunman killed 11 people at a dance club in the city of Monterey Park, also California.
On Twitter, some California congressmen expressed their condolences to the families of those killed in the shootings and condemned gun violence in the state.
