PENTAGON said United States (US) troops were not directly involved in the killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar by Israel.

The assassination of Hamas political leader Yahya Sinwar has been confirmed. Israeli media reported that citing officials.

Previously, the Israeli military said that they were examining the possibility of killing Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar in the Gaza Strip, Palestine. They said on Thursday (17/10) that during the operation in Gaza, 3 Hamas militants were successfully eradicated.

They added that the military and the Shin Bet security service were examining the possibility that one of the militants was Yahya Sinwar.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday (17/10) evening that the killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar was the beginning of the end of the war in Gaza.

“While this is not the end of the war in Gaza, it is the beginning of the end,” Netanyahu said in an English-language video statement released by his office.

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden described the killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar by Israel as a significant step.
