The Olympic skater complained that his bronze medal looked worn with many marks covering it and lost much of its shine and some signs of wear, even though he had only had it for a few days.

After returning home, Houston, 29, posted photos on his Instagram page showing the condition of his bronze medal, which he won in the skateboarding race on July 29.

In a video clip posted on his Instagram story, he said: “Well, these Olympic medals look great when they’re brand new.”

“But after leaving it on my skin with a little sweat and letting my friends wear it over the weekend, it seems like it’s not as high quality as you’d think,” he continued.

Houston went on to call on the Olympics to “raise the bar,” saying, “I don’t know, the Olympic medals, we have to raise the bar a little bit.”

Then he posted a photo and commented, “She looks like she went to war and came back.”

He also shared a screenshot of someone responding to him, telling the Olympic champion: “Looks like you won this thing in 1982, buddy.”

And when it comes to medals, Houston certainly has enough to be able to compare and contrast their quality, as the former skater has won gold 12 times at the X Games, and six times at the World Championships.

He also won 9 silver medals and 4 bronze medals between the two competitions.

He now added a bronze medal to his growing collection, but he apparently wasn’t impressed with the way it looked.

“I think medals are supposed to be in boxes,” Houston concluded.
