US No Breakthrough in Gaza Ceasefire Negotiations

There has been NO breakthrough in negotiations regarding a ceasefire and prisoner exchange in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, as talks have been stalled for weeks. This was said by officials from the White House, the office of the president of the United States (US).

“I wish I could tell you that we had some kind of breakthrough to deliver, but unfortunately there isn’t,” White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby said Thursday (26/9), to the press.

On Wednesday (25/9), the CNN news network quoted a number of US officials as saying that the administration of US President Joe Biden had stopped efforts to reach an agreement regarding a ceasefire in Gaza.

The move, according to the officials, was taken after the US government concluded that there was no political will on both sides to end the ongoing conflict.

Ceasefire negotiations have been stalled since August after negotiators presented an updated version of the peace agreement announced by Biden in late May. It contains a detailed schedule as well as locations for the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza. (Ant/Z-2)
