US NHTSA orders Ram to recall thousands of new trucks

Due to possible problems with high beams and turn signals that turn on inadvertently, the Ram truck brand, part of the Stellantis group, is recalling more than 142,000 vehicles of various models.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s recall notice, the recall is for certain 2023 Ram 1500 Classic, Ram 3500 Classic, 3500 Cab Chassis vehicles, as well as Ram 2500, 4500/5500 Cab Chassis and Ram 3500 from 2023 to 2024.

The steering column control module can cause the high beams (also known as “bright”) to activate when the turn signal is used, or it can activate the turn signal when the high beams are used.

The turn signal auto-cancel feature may also not work properly, depending on the recall.

In total, 142,150 potential vehicles will be affected by the recall.

Letters notifying owners regarding the recall are expected to be mailed on January 17, 2024. Dealers will inspect and replace the steering column control module free of charge if deemed necessary.

Both Stellantis (Jeep, Dodge, Ram and Chrysler) and General Motors (Chevrolet, Buick, Cadillac and GMC) have been manufacturing vehicles with defects in their factories in the United States. The recalls of these two manufacturers these years are countless.

Employees at their factories in the US are still on strike and have not yet been able to reach an agreement.
