US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan told reporters at the White House on Wednesday that the United States expects Israel to fulfill its pledges to allow a shipment of flour to enter Gaza.

Sullivan’s response came to a question regarding a report by Axios yesterday, Tuesday, in which it was stated that the Israeli government was obstructing the entry of an American-funded flour shipment into the Gaza Strip.

Sullivan added, “Biden spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and strongly supported efforts to reach a deal to free the hostages and establish a sustainable truce.”

He continued, “Our position regarding Rafah is clear, which is that there are civilians in the city and they must be protected.”

The US National Security Advisor stressed the United States’ concern “regarding the possibility of further escalation between Israel and Hezbollah.”
