How have you been doing since 2017a Apple will donate to the United States National Park Service (National Park Service) US$10 with each purchase made, using the Apple Pay on the company’s website, in the Apple Store app or at a physical company store from today until today August 27. There is, however, a limit to $1 million for the total amount to be allocated to the institution.

This campaign is part of a set of initiatives that Maçã launches annually to celebrate the founding of the NPS. Another part of this set of actions is the National Parks Challenge, which will give Apple Watch users a special badge for those who perform physical exercises lasting at least 20 minutes on 8/26. The idea, therefore, is, in addition to encouraging the practice of physical activities, to engage people around the cause of the parks.

the CEOChief executive officeror executive director.”>1 da Apple, Tim Cook, has expressed his appreciation and enthusiasm for US national parks on several occasions: “We are proud to partner with organizations and communities that maintain our parks, educate us about their stories, and share them with the world. It is of great value to protect these treasures, today, and for all generations to come”, said the executive.

It is worth mentioning that the usual choice of date for these actions to be in the second half of August is not a mere coincidence either: it is the anniversary of founding of the US National Park Service. It was founded on August 25, 1916 and today has more than 400 parks in the country, reaching communities both nationally and internationally.

It is very likely that, throughout the week, content will be released in the Maps app, for example, related to the parks, as well as other actions that aim to shed light on the issue. The NPS itself also has some events and actions of its own in celebration of the date, including the hashtag #NPSBirthday.
