– US military plane crashes in Eastern Mediterranean
A US military plane crashed during training in the eastern Mediterranean, the US command in Europe said on Saturday, without specifying the fate of the crew.

“On the evening of November 10, an American military aircraft conducting training operations in the Eastern Mediterranean suffered an accident and crashed,” the American command in Europe (EUCOM) said in a statement on Saturday.
“We can state with certainty that the flight of the aircraft was purely for training and that there is no indication of hostile activity,” the text adds. “The cause of the training accident is currently under investigation.” No details were provided on the type of machine or its destination.
Deployed fleet
The United States has deployed an aircraft carrier and other warships to the eastern Mediterranean, near the Middle East, to help prevent the war between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas from escalating into a regional conflict.
Washington quickly provided military support to Israel following the October 7 attack by Hamas in Israel which, according to Israeli officials, left more than 1,200 dead.
The Israeli army has since carried out an air, land and naval response on the Gaza Strip which, according to the Hamas Ministry of Health, has left more than 11,000 dead.
