In a statement, CBP Acting Director Troy Miller said recent border security measures have had a significant impact on the decrease in border apprehensions. Since the announcement through the end of the month, there has been a 50% reduction in the average number of apprehensions over a seven-day period.
In June 2024, the number of unaccompanied children discovered by CBP along the southwest border decreased by 14% compared to May 2024 and 28% compared to May 2023, including those who presented themselves at ports of entry without an appointment.
Minors entering the country alone are not subject to the new order issued by the Government.
Since the presidential order went into effect, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has removed more than 70,000 aliens from more than 170 countries.
This deportation operation has involved more than 150 repatriation flights.
