United States (US) President Joe Biden is said to be starting to accept that he might lose once morest Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in the upcoming United States presidential election in November 2024.
The New York Times, citing people close to Biden, reported that Biden also appeared to be starting to think he might need to drop out of the race.
The news report quoted a person close to Biden as saying on Thursday (18/7) that the US President had not yet decided to withdraw from the presidential race.
However, the newspaper cited other sources as saying that Biden appeared to be coming to terms with reality.
For that reason, according to the source, it is not surprising that in the future Biden will make an announcement to support US Vice President Kamala Harris as his replacement.
At the same time, the newspaper quoted White House officials as saying that Biden would not withdraw from the race. They reportedly dismissed the media reports, calling them a “coordinated leak campaign” by Democratic leaders to increase pressure on Biden.

NBC News reported Thursday, citing sources, that Biden’s political world is crumbling as his allies have both publicly and privately called on him to step down and major donations to his campaign have plummeted.
“We’re nearing the end,” a person close to Biden told the television station.
The source reportedly added that Biden is approaching a point of no return for the president.

The report also cited a person familiar with the projections as saying that the Biden campaign now expects to raise only 25 percent of the big donor money it had originally projected to raise in July.
The broadcaster reported last week that Biden’s campaign had secretly conducted polling on Harris’ viability once morest Trump amid calls for the US president to withdraw from the race.
Meanwhile, the Washington Post reported Thursday, citing three Democratic officials, that former US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told several Democratic lawmakers that she believed Biden might soon be persuaded to withdraw from the race amid serious doubts in some quarters regarding Biden’s chances of winning the election.

Media also reported that Pelosi’s aides refused to discuss her conversations with colleagues, and said the media was “creating a frenzy” regarding her discussions with Biden.
Many Democrats have called on Biden to end his campaign and choose an alternative candidate following his poor performance in a debate once morest Trump last month.
